Here, we introduce the history of this event, which has continued since 2009, and the background behind the growing popularity of anime songs both in Japan and around the world.

1-1. The History of ANIMAX MUSIX
ANIMAX MUSIX is a live event that launched in 2009 under the concept of "bringing the appeal of anime music to the world." It is organized by Animax, a dedicated anime television channel, and has continued to grow with performances held over the years.
The primary venue today is Yokohama Arena, with some shows running over six hours. In 2024, to commemorate the event's 15th anniversary, performances were held twice — once in spring and once in autumn. The stage features not only the performers' original songs, but also cover songs chosen by fan vote and special collaborations between artists.
1-2. Why Anime Songs Have Gained Popularity Both in Japan and Abroad
The growing popularity of anime songs both at home and internationally is rooted in the global spread of anime and the evolution of the music itself. From the 1980s through the 1990s, tracks such as Anri's "CAT'S EYE" and songs by ZARD and B'z became major hits as anime theme songs. Entering the 2000s, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and FLOW — both of whom performed theme songs for NARUTO — went on to perform internationally.
From the 2010s onward, platforms such as Spotify and YouTube brought Japanese music to audiences around the world. Artists including Hikaru Utada and Kenshi Yonezu have also contributed anime theme songs, further spreading Japanese anison on a global scale.

Yokohama Arena is a 4-to-5-minute walk from the nearest station, Shin-Yokohama Station. Five railway lines serve Shin-Yokohama Station, making it easy to reach whether you are coming from the Tokyo area or from Haneda Airport or Narita Airport — simply head to Shin-Yokohama Station first.
4-1. How to Get from Shin-Yokohama Station to Yokohama Arena
Five railway lines serve Shin-Yokohama Station, and from any of them you can walk directly to Yokohama Arena. From the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line, the Sotetsu Shin-Yokohama Line, and the Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line, use Exit 7 or Exit 8 for a 4-minute walk. From the JR Yokohama Line, it is a 5-minute walk from the North Exit, and from the JR Tokaido Shinkansen, it is a 5-minute walk from the East Exit.
If you are using the JR Yokohama Line, be sure to use the North Exit. Shin-Yokohama Station has another exit called the Shinohara Exit, and if you leave through that exit, you will end up walking away from the venue.
4-2. Getting to Yokohama Arena from Tokyo and the Airports
Whether you are coming from the Tokyo area, Haneda Airport, or Narita Airport, your first destination should be Shin-Yokohama Station. From Tokyo Station or Shinagawa Station, the JR Tokaido Shinkansen stops at Shin-Yokohama Station. From the Shibuya area, the Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line is a convenient option, as it runs directly to Shin-Yokohama Station without requiring a transfer.
From Haneda Airport, you can reach the venue by either limousine bus or train. However, since bus journeys can take longer when roads are congested, taking the train is recommended if you are pressed for time before the show. From Narita Airport, a convenient route is to travel via Musashi-Kosugi and then on to Shin-Yokohama Station.
Yokohama Arena does not have parking or bicycle parking facilities for visitors. Please use public transportation such as trains or buses to get to the venue.

If you plan to eat before or after ANIMAX MUSIX 2026, it is a good idea to research restaurants near Yokohama Arena in advance. The area around Shin-Yokohama Station offers a wide variety of dining options, from cafés and Chinese cuisine to Korean food and Italian restaurants. Your choice of restaurant will naturally differ depending on whether you are looking for somewhere to stop before the show or somewhere that stays open late after it ends.
5-1. Cafés and Restaurants Convenient Before the Concert
Before the show, restaurants located right next to Shin-Yokohama Station will be the most convenient option. The Tea Lounge "Pale Grace" on the first floor of Shin-Yokohama Grace Hotel is just a 1-minute walk from Shin-Yokohama Station, and is open from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
A 5-minute walk from JR Shin-Yokohama Station, the Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum lets you enjoy both a meal and a sightseeing experience all in one place. It opens at 11:00 AM on weekdays and 10:30 AM on weekends and holidays, and closes at 9:00 PM on all days. You can also try making your own ramen inside the museum.
Yonchan Bulgogi Shin-Yokohama is a Korean restaurant about a 3-minute walk from Exit 10 of Shin-Yokohama Station, where you can enjoy samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) and bulgogi hot pot. Jukusei Sushi to Oden Sushi Sakaba Sanji Shin-Yokohama is known for its signature nigiri sushi made with fish aged for seven days.
5-2. Restaurants Open Late and Convenient After the Concert
After the show ends, the area around the venue can get crowded, and staggered exit procedures may push your dinner time quite late. It is a good idea to decide in advance on a restaurant that stays open late.
For Chinese cuisine, Koshitsu Chuka Hokoen Shin-Yokohama and Fukushoen Shin-Yokohama are both good options. Hokoen serves dinner from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with last orders at 10:30 PM. Fukushoen is open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Trattoria Regalo, an Italian restaurant, is a 2-minute walk from Yokohama Arena. It is open from 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM, with last orders at 10:00 PM. In the same building, Indian Restaurant Fuji Biryani Shin-Yokohama serves dinner from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
